Investigative News Network

The Investigative News Network is a group of nonprofit journalism organizations that conduct investigative reporting in the public interest.

It includes some of the biggest names in journalism — NPR, WNET.org and American Public Radio — as well as startups and everything in between. It was founded July 1, 2009 with at the Pocantico Estate in Tarrytown, N.Y. following a conference there.

The conference was convened by the Center for Public Integrity and Center for Investigative Reporting and supported by the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, the Surdna Foundation and the William Penn Foundation.

The Network is being guided by a steering committee of its founding members. The chair of the steering committee is Brant Houston, Knight Chair of Investigative & Enterprise Reporting at the College of Media, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
